GLAZEBROOK HOUSE, DEVON

Set in the beautiful, secluded grounds of South Devon, this lavish eighteenth century house has recently undergone a luxurious refurbishment to create an enchanting boutique hotel with a twist.

The owner of the hotel, Pieter Hamman worked alongside interior designer Timothy Oulton to create fantastic and unique décor throughout the hotel. Offering a memorable experience for guests.

With Alice and Wonderland themed bedrooms, the luxury boutique hotel offers a magical and unforgettable stay. Made up from eight equally beautiful rooms Glazebrook House Hotel includes three luxury double bedrooms, two superior doubles, one standard room and one single. All named after an Alice and Wonderland character.

On arrival we were lucky enough to be given a tour of the grounds by Pieter Hamman himself. Within minutes of meeting Pieter you can instantly tell he has such a strong passion and love for the hotel and the guests which is very endearing. We were shown around the stunning gardens and were talked through the history of the house. Pieter went on to explain the very ambitious plans for the grounds which include a spa, a giant chessboard, an open air bar and a mad hatter’s tea party.

After our tour we were shown to our room for the night which was the Mad Hatter room. The luxury double room includes a king size bed, modern en-suite bathroom and channels the Mad Hatter’s tea party with antique plates across the walls, doll’s houses above the bed, a marble reading desk and a TV with Netflix. Unfortunately our TV didn’t work and even though we were more than happy to stay in our room without a TV the staff went above and beyond to make sure we got the most out of our stay and moved us to the Cheshire Cat room.

The Cheshire Cat is known for being the most atmospheric room in the hotel, with a chaise longue and a twin shower we were not left disappointed with the room change. All rooms feature under floor heating, luxurious robes, tea & coffee making facilities and a stocked mini bar featuring all your favourite chocolate and sweets.
After settling into our room we headed to the bar which is the perfect spot for pre and post dinner drinks. We were later seated in the very inviting dining room where patterned china covers the wall and handpicked flowers cover the tables.

Good food is high on the list of priorities at Glazebrook and the dinner menu did not disappoint the taste buds. As well as the main dinner menu the hotel also offers a taster menu which offers a delicious taste of a selection of dishes including king oyster mushroom, smoked scallop, beef cigar and for dessert the highly recommended death by chocolate.
Overall Glazebrook House Hotel left us very impressed, the staff meet every need and ensured they went above and beyond expectations which made our stay very welcoming. The hotel overflows with character and the attention to detail really makes the hotel stand out.
