In my opinion you don’t need tons of beauty products through the summer, especially when it’s hot and humid. I find it’s best to have a handful of products that just work really, really well. I’ve been focusing more on skincare lately and less on make up, preferring to splurge on a luxurious face oil over the latest foundation and highlighter. Not that I don’t LOVE make up, but there’s nothing better than feeling confident in your own skin, freckles and all.  So without further adieu, here are a few products that I’ve been testing and have made their way into my regular routine over the past few weeks.

As travel is a huge part of my lifestyle, hydration is at the top of my agenda. That’s why I’m such a fan of facial oils. The Malin + Goetz Revovery Treatment Oil has been an essential for me lately. I’ve been using it in the evening before applying my night cream and in the morning after cleansing. I’ve gone through this so quickly because I’ve been using it so much, but the difference in the appearance of my skin makes it well worth it. The consistency is lightweight in comparison to others I’ve used and immediately soaks into the skin without clogging pores. I’m hooked!

It wouldn’t be summer without a summer scent. I’ve been taking the new Tom Ford Orchid Soleil Solid Perfume away on my recent trips, firstly because the smell is absolutely divine and secondly because it’s a solid perfume and I don’t have to worry about liquid limitations when I’m carrying hand luggage. I can’t tell you how many people stop to ask me what perfume I’m wearing, which makes me love wearing it even more. The packaging is pretty cute too.

I’m a big fan of cleansing oils for taking off make up. I’m currently using the Super Facialist Vitamin C Cleansing Oil which I apply directly to the skin and massage for a good couple of minutes, including eyes, and then dampen my hands with water which turns the oil into a milky looking fluid. I use this in the evenings as I find it’s great for taking off make up and I don’t need to use a separate eye make up remover. Then in the morning I use something like a gel soap which is a bit fresher.

Sometimes there’s nothing better than a good scrub to prep your skin, especially in the summer when you’re getting more sun than perhaps you do usually. Goldfaden MD Doctor’s Scrub is gentle enough to use daily and not only makes my skin feel really clean but my make up looks so much fresher and seams to sit better on my skin. I’ve been using this product for a good couple of months now and my overall complexion has improved dramatically since I’ve introduced this product into my regular routine.

Another gem from Dr. Goldfaden. This brand was only introduced to me recently but already 2 of their products have become main staples on my beauty shelf. This Facial Detox  mask works by drawing out dirt to leave clearer pores. It can be used as an all over mask or directly onto spots if you just want to target a specific area. A little of this stuff goes along way. I’ve been using it religiously and I’ve still got over half a pot left.

My hair was something that I massively neglected up until recently but since being introduced to Vidal Sassoon and their styling products I’m a complete convert. It now doesn’t make sense to me to spend a fortune on highlights and a good cut if you’re then going to use any old shampoo and avoid treatments in between visits to the salon. I’ve been using the whole Vidal Sassoon range, but my must have product is the Illumination Hair Oil. I apply this after washing when my hair’s damp – I find it helps getting a brush through it, and then use again sparing after styling to smooth any fly-aways.
