We had the pleasure of visiting the beautiful Middleton Lodge Coach House last month in North Yorkshire for a couple of nights R&R. We arrived after a tiresome 7 hour car journey due to awful traffic and needless to say we were exhausted. Luckily Middleton Lodge is the perfect place to recuperate. The idyllic contemporary country estate is the perfect escape from the pressures of everyday life.
We had a dog friendly garden room which was contemporary yet cosy, equipped with Roberts Radio, flatscreen TV, DVD player, mini fridge with free bottled water and homemade cookies , tray of tea-making treats and Nespresso coffee machine. Toiletries are courtesy of Noble Isle and are available to buy from reception, should you become hooked!
Each room is decorated in a unique charming way, with exposed timber beams and freestanding roll-top baths. The Hayloft rooms are positioned on an upper level with fabulous views over the courtyard and paddock. The Garden Rooms have their own small private terrace and outdoor seating, surrounded by seasonal flowers. The ground-floor Tack Room is the most spacious.
The property has two treatment rooms and a peaceful terrace where guests are given mani-pedis, products are quality eco-friendly Yoya and Ren, the perfect products for some holistic therapy, including massages, facials, wraps, and sugar scrubs. There are special treatments for mums-to-be too.
All food is either grown within the estate itself or locally sourced, all strictly seasonal and free range adding to the delightful culinary experience in the restaurant which really is the main focal point of the hotel. The menu features classic British dishes which showcase the best of Yorkshire’s plentiful produce. The quality of the ingredients really shows through the menu which is exciting but not overly fussy. Breakfast was a highlight for us, and was difficult to pick between the eggs Benedict, full English, and pancakes. We had our dog with us for the trip, (we must say we found the hotel to be extremely pet friendly) with the chef preparing our spoiled pup his own plate of scrambled egg for breakfast!
The hotel bar has a great ambience, with a nice selection of cocktails including all the classics, but with a twist. The in house mixologist David is passionate about creating new interesting flavours and often makes his own selection of bitters to create his concoctions; The perfect place to retreat for a nightcap after a hearty meal in the restaurant.
I really can’t recommend Middleton Lodge enough!
